About
Adriel Dave “AD” Alvarez is a former executive director of a microfinance organization who transitioned to full-time farming in 2010. He has been a dedicated farmer, advocate and volunteer agriculture extension worker, significantly improving corn farming practices in the Camotes Islands, Cebu, Philippines. By introducing modern agriculture technology, such as GMO hybrid corn and updated farming systems, he increased his yield to 8,400 kilograms per hectare, compared to the average 800 kilograms per hectare. His “mission” farm operation grew from 2 to 40 hectares, earning him the titles of Most Outstanding Corn Farmer of Cebu in 2016 and Region 7 in 2017. Currently, he is focused on agriculture value chain development and carbon sequestration systems for smallholder farmers.
