Varban Varbanov

Varban Varbanov farms about 500 hectares in Bulgaria with his father and uncle, growing cereals and oilseeds (wheat, barley, field peas, sunflowers, alfalfa, oilseed rape) while pushing toward efficiency and conservation practices. He applies variable‑rate inputs guided by NDVI maps, is adding yield mapping, and has invested in strip‑till. Facing heat waves and water scarcity, he seeks irrigation access and expanded conservation practices. He’s working toward climate-risk management to include irrigation approvals, reduced tillage, and resilient rotations that include sorghum.
