About
Jose Luis Bustamante is a first-generation farmer from Mexico, operating a blueberry farm near Guadalajara. With over 15 years of experience in produce farming and three years managing his own farm, Jose grows blueberries, strawberries, raspberries, blackberries, cantaloupes, avocados, seedless limes, and lettuce. He utilizes substrate production with coco coir and drip irrigation. Jose faces challenges related to consumer education and market access but sees a promising opportunity in expanding his blueberry farm to 50 hectares. Jose Luis has been an active member of several farming organizations in Mexico including PMA and National Association of Berry Exporters (Aneberries). He served as President of Aneberries, and currently he is the secretary. He has also served as a vice-president of exports for the Agricultural Development Council of Jalisco, MX. He joined the GFN in 2025.
