Bhola Nath Khatiwada

I am currently engaged in farming on approximately 10 hectares of land, where  we cultivate kiwi fruits, vegetables, and also practice buffalo farming. Our products  are supplied to local markets and also to Kathmandu, meeting both rural and  urban demand with fresh, quality produce. Farming has been a generational tradition in my family. However, it was primarily subsistence-based in the past. It is only from my generation that we have taken a  significant step toward commercial agriculture, focusing on innovation, scale, and  sustainability. This transition has not only improved productivity but has also  created local employment opportunities and enhanced our contribution to the  agricultural economy. In June 2022, I became a member of the GFN, which  has broadened my global perspective and connected me with like-minded farmers  and agricultural leaders worldwide. Through this network, I’ve had the opportunity  to learn, share, and advocate more effectively. In addition to farming, I am actively involved in policy advocacy, working to  promote farmer-friendly laws and reforms. My goal is to help create an enabling  environment where agriculture is respected, profitable, and sustainable for current  and future generations. My team and I are involved in vegetable processing and export to foreign markets.
